The Olsen twins began their acting careers on Full House when they were just nine months old. By the time season six of Full House began, fans started realizing that the character of Michelle was played two different people. Initially, the producers on the show wanted to keep Mary-Kate only for the role, but thanks to the twins' blossoming fame, John Stamos, who played the lovable Uncle Jesse, persuaded them to keep Ashley as well. They founded their first company, Dualstar Entertainment, at the age of six.
Their parents made them attend every company business meeting. Through Dualstar, they produced 14 movies, three television shows, and their infamous musical video series, The Adventures of Mary-Kate and Ashley. The duo skipped out on their senior prom in favor of hosting Saturday Night Live. In their opening monologue, they joked about missing the big dance, and even had Jimmy Fallon and Will Forte pose as their prom dates.
Ashley's Secret Life
In , the pair received a star on Hollywood Walk of Fame just three months before their 18th birthday. They were the first set of twins to receive this joint honor. While Ashley officially retired from acting after the release of their film New York Minute , Mary-Kate has periodically continued her career, most notably guest-starring on the hit show Weeds in Neither Mary-Kate nor Ashley have any social media accounts—they prefer to live their lives out of the public spotlight. They also rarely attend red carpet events. The brand will open its first London-based store in summer of Mary-Kate and Ashley originally sold pieces from The Row without revealing that it was their brand.
They wanted the integrity of their designs to stand alone and without their name attached to it. It was only after The Row started gaining traction that they revealed their affiliation.
The Olsens enjoy using natural healing remedies. The twins have admitted that their infamous boho-chic style aesthetic grew largely out of a sense of laziness and a need for multiple layers during harsh New York winters.
