Reviews of Inner Realm for Men
Tom Holland had already hinted that the Quantum Realm could play a role in Endgame 's plot, and many theories about the story involved the Avengers using time travel to undo the damage Thanos caused in Infinity War. Those theories proved to be dead on. Although there was no more mention of time vortices, the plot revolved around time travel , and it was Ant-Man's appearance that made it all possible.
There he remained for five years, until a kindly rat activated the Quantum Tunnel again.
'Ant-Man and the Wasp': Does the Quantum Realm Have a Bigger Role to Play in the MCU?
But for Scott, only five hours had seemed to pass inside the Quantum Realm, leading the Avengers to speculate on the passage of time inside and outside of the subatomic dimension. Tony Stark is able to work how to navigate through time via the realm in the space of an evening, apparently , allowing the Avengers to use Ant-Man's dwindling supply of Pym Particles to travel to the past and retrieve the Infinity Stones.
Fans have even speculated that the entire battle on Titan between Thanos, Iron Man , Spider-Man , Doctor Strange and the Guardians of the Galaxy was a diversion, with Stephen Strange playing for time so that Ant-Man would be trapped in the Quantum Realm when the Snap happened and therefore learn how to use its special properties.
While never confirmed, Stephen did seem to have everything planned out during Endgame 's finale, so we've no doubt this was at least part of his calculations. But more than just being a plot device in Endgame , there is a suggestion that the Quantum Realm could play an important role in opening up the MCU to exciting new stories and directions.
While the Avengers will probably avoid time travel if they can help it, the realm offers other opportunities for exploration. The rumour that the Quantum Realm would have a role in Captain Marvel proved unfounded, but there has been plenty of noise from official sources suggesting that there are big plans for the little world.
So that was our little test into that. This Quantum Realm is much larger than we ever imagined, and there are all sorts of adventures to be had at that level, which perhaps we will explore in another film. As Strange was a surgeon and man of science before he was a sorcerer, we imagine he might be particularly interested in the subject. In the comics, the Quantum Realm is known as the 'Microverse', another dimension accessible only by shrinking that is the home to various heroes and villains.
For instance, it was there that Hulk fell in love with the green-skinned princess Jarella before her untimely death. Want up-to-the-minute entertainment news and features?

What is the Quantum Realm? Marvel Studios. Michael Douglas' Hank Pym called it "a reality where all concepts of time and space become irrelevant as you shrink for all eternity". It's not a place people come back from… until Ant-Man did, of course. Janet — who had survived in the Quantum Realm for 30 years, picking up mysterious powers along the way — warned Scott to avoid any time vortex he may come across just before he departed.
While delivered as a throwaway line, it was conspicuous enough for fans to pick up on… and begin to speculate. Could a time vortex allow Ant-Man to access the past or future — tying him into either the rumoured Avengers 4 time travel plot or Captain Marvel 's '90s setting? That sounds pretty unequivocal, right? But it might not only be Ant-Man who has a connection to the Quantum Realm.

The psychedelic visuals in Doctor Strange when Stephen Strange Benedict Cumberbatch began to explore the world of magic were very similar to those we've seen when someone enters the Quantum Realm. Could it factor into the solution to defeating Thanos that Strange saw when he used the Time Stone? Will Ant-Man be the surprise hero of the Infinity War sequel? Or could Strange tap into the powers of the Quantum Realm in a more direct way, rendering "all concepts of time and space" irrelevant in order to save the day?
It was teased as early as that Captain Marvel 's plot will involve the Quantum Realm in some way , although the details of how that might be remain incredibly sparse. It might just relate to the theorised Ant-Man cameo, but perhaps it will be used to explain how Carol Danvers Brie Larson acquires her superhuman abilities and becomes the most powerful character in the MCU yet.

The strange, time-distorting properties of the Quantum Realm could also be called upon to explain how Nick Fury knew to signal Carol at the end of Infinity War — and why he had never done so for any of the other crises that threatened Earth in the past. It looks as though it might be used as a way to open up the MCU in strange and unexpected ways in the future. Which is it's infinite and can be whatever you want it to be.
