More filters. Sort order. I had finished reading this book today's morning, I had a confusion with the story at the first half, but then realized it after the second half. I am now learned more about anxiety and these people really needs more help from the people who they love.
By the way, I have just realized that I had read like 4 books - 1 of the books isn't in Goodreads - within these past two days and I'm v 4. By the way, I have just realized that I had read like 4 books - 1 of the books isn't in Goodreads - within these past two days and I'm very proud of myself. Urgh, tmrw gonna force myself back to work. Gosh, so lazy! How I wish I could just read the whole days. Emotional and engaging, with an incredible richness of detail that made me feel as if I were in Robyn's quirky, wonderful, often heartbreaking world. Jun 17, Bookevin rated it really liked it.
The Story of You follows the story of Robyn King, who is a psychiatric nurse, dealing with mental health patients every day. She has moved on since the events of that fateful summer back in 19 www. She has moved on since the events of that fateful summer back in When her blast from the past contacts her, she is forced to return to her hometown, Kilterdale, back to where everything happened. There are many themes surrounding the book, and the storyline is utterly gripping and engaging.
One of the major themes of the book is miscarriages, so I strongly warn you that this is a hugely emotional book. The book also discusses about mental health, such as schizophrenia and suicide, as well as mother-daughter relationships and sisterly bonds. I found the characters very well-written and diverse. The book is written with such depth and detail, everything describe beautifully, especially the nuances of thoughts and emotions.
The Story of You is a story of letting go of the past, living in the moment and hope.
It taught me to cherish and appreciate my loved ones and never take them for granted. I was on my honeymoon when I read The Story of You by Katy Regan, the sun was shining as I immersed myself in the book and before I knew it I had finished it and not moved once and so it was dark and I had missed dinner!

With a big change now happening years on everything is brought back to the surface again, will she let this define her for the rest of her life or will she be able to find a way to let go? This was an unbelievable raw, emotional and poignant read that had me captivated the whole way through. It is so beautifully written with such delicacy around many emotional, heartbreaking events.
This was not the light read I was expecting after reading some of the authors previous books this is a lot deeper and will definitely pull at your heart strings. Robyn is one of those characters you can't help but sympathise with after all she has been through you just want her to find her happy ending but even the ending made this book feel realistic because it wasn't yur typcal and they live happy ever after ending. I absolutely loved Joe he was such a string, loving and determined character and he managed to bring a little light to this book and also to Robyn's life.
The book is told in both the past and the present but also in the form of letters to Lily which I thought was a lovely touch. There is no question for me that this book shows the authors writing at her best and I can't imagine how hard this book must have been to write because it was so highly emotive.

Don't expect a jolly happy tale, this book tells love like it sometimes is full of anxiety mixed emotions and heart brakes.
Absolutely loved the character Grace and a real gem. Copy left in Victoria train station London if anyone wants it. Aug 28, Jooke rated it it was ok Shelves: audiobooks. Fairly disappointed. This could have been so much better. This book touched so many interesting subjects like love, loss, rape, coping, mental diseases, mental health care, I couldn't give up on this book, but I always kept hoping for something more I can't explain it better than wishing for more.
Oct 01, Ozgul Gulerman rated it really liked it. How well described and easy to read book it is. The main female character is little bit annoying but of course it is acceptable in her conditions. Well written.. Good job. Oct 14, Katy rated it it was amazing. Lately I haven't been able to resist picking up a book if it's set in London, so of course on reading the first page of The Story Of You I was hooked. I'd seen other authors such as Ali Harris mention Katy Regan's latest foray into chic-lit so was excited to read it!
And am I glad that I did. This book was absolutely fantastic, it dealt with so many sensitive issues such as mental health as our main character Robyn is a CPN and also view spoiler [ miscarriage and rape. Although I guessed quite Lately I haven't been able to resist picking up a book if it's set in London, so of course on reading the first page of The Story Of You I was hooked. Although I guessed quite early into the book what had happened to Robyn when she was 16 and it wasn't quite the curveball I think it was intended to be, I still thought it was really well written and Katy did a great job.
And Joe was such a sweetheart! How he wore his heart on his sleeve and refused to give up on Robyn even when she constantly pushed him away! I also thought that the ending was perfect. And it's not often I say that! It wasn't happily ever after with them walking into the sunset, but there was hope, and that was enough. A beautifully-written and mesmerising portrait of the frailty of the human mind - and the towering, redemptive power of love.
I was devastated to find myself at the end of this gripping tale and was blown away by Regan's masterful, confident storytelling. Regan finds comedy in the darkest of places and, like any truly great writer, forces her readers to question and reevaluate their beliefs about love, family, trauma and redemption. Nostalgic, wise, devastating and hilarious - this is Katy Regan A beautifully-written and mesmerising portrait of the frailty of the human mind - and the towering, redemptive power of love.
Nostalgic, wise, devastating and hilarious - this is Katy Regan at her best. Jul 01, Merry rated it it was amazing Shelves: This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. A book that deals with incredibly difficult topics - infant loss, unintended pregnancy, mental illness and abuse but somehow manages to do it with genuine skill and gentleness that makes it both engaging and highly readable. As someone who has experienced some of those things, I know an poor portrayal of the emotions involved in any of those events makes s book jar tingly bad and this one was spot on.

Jan 10, Emer A Little Haze rated it liked it Shelves: read , library-loan , light-fiction , reviewed , 3stars , adult-fiction. Well written light fiction with a little more emotional depth than the masses. This is my first book by Katy Regan, I really liked her writing style. Beautiful, believable characters which made this a very easy read. Recommend highly as a great holiday book. Finished it this morning and it still has me thinking about what I would do, if I was put in some of the main characters predicaments.
Some lovely quotes about life throughout the book that really resonated with me as I have just lost a parent.

Highly recommend. Oct 15, Archana Radhakrishnan rated it liked it. Mildly interesting. But somehow made me feel bereft as the ending was quite sudden! Read my full review here : My Review. I did enjoy this. It's a good story well told and to a large extent, you are left working some of it out for yourself. My only complaint and it's a common one for me is that the end is a bit weak.
But certainly an enjoyable read. Jun 21, Lesley Halliday rated it it was amazing. Loved this book was so nice and warm and just a really lovely story. Jun 03, Sandra Preston rated it really liked it. Beautiful written book. Nov 26, Cath Hughes rated it liked it. I was going to give it 4 stars and was highly recommending it, but the 2nd half just keeps repeating itself over and over. And then annoyingly the end is so rushed and so unsatisfying! May 11, Danielle rated it really liked it.
I hve to admit, the first half of this book seemed slightly repetitive and slow paced. But by the second half - oh my! I was absolutely hooked. This book would make a great summer read. Jan 22, Stephanie Karaolis rated it really liked it.

Really, this is the story of Robyn King and all the people those three, and others who shaped her and led her to where she is today. Initially, I found the narrative a little confusing as it jumps between the present and the past, with an added epistolary element. But after a few chapters, things started falling into place. Avoiding any spoilers, these themes include bereavement and schizophrenia, amongst others.
And mental illness is ever-present, with questions raised about how easily anyone might fall over the precipice into its grips. The novel is written in the first person, and Robyn is a warm character and the narrative avoids feeling self-pitying or wallowing. Her inner conflicts are evident, and admittedly there were times when I found her a little frustrating in how she reacted to certain things — but those reactions retrospectively make sense once a bit more has been revealed about the past.
But these traits and flaws are portrayed in a way that feels real rather than caricatured, and most of those characters develop and grow throughout the book — as does Robyn — again avoiding the trap of a two-dimensional supporting cast.
